After 20 years, PCB to host tri-series with New Zealand and South Africa in February 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that it will be organizing a one-day international (ODI) triangular series in February 2025. The tournament will feature New Zealand and South Africa, and it will be hosted by PCB after a gap of over 20 years. The decision was made during a meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and his counterparts from South Africa and New Zealand, Lawson Naidoo and Roger Twose, in Dubai. A press release has been issued today to inform the public about this development.

"The statement mentioned that the agenda of the meeting covered the ODI Tri-series between Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, scheduled to be held in Pakistan in February 2025, just before the ICC Champions Trophy. The statement also noted that the PCB had previously hosted a tri-series in October 2004, featuring Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe."

The host and both the member boards have finalized and welcomed the tri-series. The PCB chairman has extended an invitation to Twose and Naidoo to visit Pakistan. Naqvi expressed his excitement for the tri-series and thanked the heads of New Zealand and South African cricket for agreeing to participate. He also mentioned that PCB is looking forward to hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be a great pleasure for Pakistan to host the top eight ODI teams on its soil.

New Zealand cricket team is scheduled to tour Pakistan next month to participate in a five-match T20 International series in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the tour on Wednesday. The Blackcaps will be arriving in the capital city on April 14, after which they will play three T20s at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on April 18, 20, and 21.

The last two games of the series are scheduled to be played on April 25 and 27 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. All five matches will begin at 7 pm as per the Pakistan Standard Time.

Tickets for the series will be available at selected TCS outlets and online at pcb.tcs.com.pk.

This upcoming series will be New Zealand's third tour to Pakistan in a span of 17 months. The team had previously travelled to Pakistan in December 2022-January 2023 to play two Tests and three ODIs. In April 2023, New Zealand visited Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi to play 10 white-ball matches against Pakistan.
